Tomorrowland, Europe's biggest festival was back for 2 unforgettable weekends in the heart of summer 2023. On a cloudy Saturday in July (July 21st), our experience started in the early afternoon on the front of STMPD stage.
Like previous editions, STMPD RCRDS (Martin Garrix's own label) teams up with Tomorrowland, bringing its own artists and collaborating on several projects including an EP and collector's clothing. For this day, the lineup was incredible: Peter Luts started his performance at 12.00 pm. followed by Fancy Inc, Sentinel, with whom Martin recently recorded his single Hurricane, then the English duo Goodboys performed at 3.00 pm and finally Matisse & Sadko. Well informed garrixers knew that Martin Garrix would be playing a surprise 1-hour-long set with Alesso after them.
At 5.00 pm, Martin and Alesso entered the stage for their first B-to-B in history! Friends for years, the two producers have a pending collab (Inside our hearts), which they announced at ADE 2022 and premiered at Ultra Miami, last March. For an hour, the two friends mixed their respective titles, including a very tasty mashup of Scared to be Lonely / Calling. Of course, they finished the set with a version of Inside our hearts ID.
After this unforgettable B-to-B, we joined again Goodboys who offered a very intimate set to selected fans at the Tomorrowland store. Meanwhile, the party continued on the STMPD stage with Julian Jordan, Dubvision, Joseph Capriati and Paul Kalkbrenner.
At 11.30 pm, Martin started his set with his energetic Biochemical intro previously heard this spring and summer. As usual, we spent crazy moments singing, jumping, dancing to Martin's music from Pizza to Latency, Break Through the Silence, and so many other familiar sounds. On stage, some of his friends and colleagues took part to the show, including Julian Jordan, Matisse Sadko for Mistaken and Together, Sentinel for Hurricane, and Dubvision for the hit Starlight (with the voice of Shaun Farruggia) for a fiery finale. The show was 90-minutes long.
The following day, Martin Garrix headlined the main stage for the closing of the weekend. Like the day before, the rain punctuated the day, but luckily not during Martin's set. He started the show with a never-heard-before intro which was an orchestral version of his new ID, what a magical atmosphere to start a show, our favorite DJ knows exactly how to play with our feelings, from emotion to euphoria. And he was back again, the next weekend, on July 30 for the grand closing of the festival. Martin's next show with Tomorrowland will be in Brazil later this year.
